朱高灿月 Zhu Gaocanyue (b. Hubei, China)
Zhu Gaocanyue is a multidisciplinary artist, known for their photography, printmaking, image installation and artist book. Perceiving images as vocabulary to excavate invisible aspects of different subjects, Zhu Gao's work always begins with questions about contradictions and similarities, evolves into an essence, and presents as books.
Unfolding stories with non-linear visual narratives, Zhu Gao’s work does not provide definitive answers; rather, it expands. Their projects are grounded in experimental approaches to materials and printing processes, often drawn directly from the photographic subjects themselves. Their recent research examines the shifting definitions of value and investigates how humans relate to non-functional objects, obsolete knowledge, and marginalized forms of labor.
Currently based in Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.A. MFA Candidate for Photography at Rhode Island School of Design.
In 2024, Zhu co-founded zug press with Zuya Yang—an independent publishing house dedicated to experimental forms of fine art bookmaking.
